UDVL Assistant Participated in a Visualization Hackathon at University of Chicago

Anton Rozhkov who is Research and Teaching Assistant in the UDVL participated in a hackathon at University of Chicago which was held on March 2, 2019.

As part of the Visualization for Understanding and Exploration research project, the Research Computing Center (RCC) at the University of Chicago held this event to foster the understanding and exploration of data visualization for research within humanistic disciplines. The main goal of the event was to help researchers identify and solve data visualization problems.

Among the many topics on data visualization, ranging from large scale text reuse visualization to understanding media bias, Anton was engaged in a project of mapping the Chicago riot of 1919. The main questions that participants of the hackathon tried to answer were what is the best way to present your data and what visualization tools best suit the different kinds of data.
