UDVL Director; Professor Moira Zellner, Presented Research on Participatory Modeling, Urban Informatics, and Spatial Planning at UT-Austin

UDVL Director, Professor Moira Zellner was invited to present the findings of her research at Sustainable Urban Systems: Challenges to and Opportunities for Developing Resilience in Rapidly Growing Urban Corridors in Semi-Arid Regions conference. This event was sponsored by the National Science Foundation, and was held at UT-Austin on August 22-24, 2019 to bring together researchers, stakeholders, and policy influencers working on urban sustainability. This 3-day event included a series of collaborative activities, panel discussions and presentations brought by interdisciplinary scholars and practitioners to jointly explore the governing needs for natural, engineered, and social systems in urban regions, in response to the rapid changes in population, climate, infrastructures, and communities. Contributing to this focus area, UDVL Director, Moira Zellner, presented the use of big data and modeling for spatial planning and participatory policy exploration.
