UDVL Help Desk
Students registered in US 261, US 361, UPP 458/459, or UPP 461/2, and students using GIS in their coursework, research, or projects are welcome to attend UDVL’s GIS help desk hours for support in class assignments, final projects, Master’s projects or dissertations. Find out more here.

ESRI Academy
ESRI Academy – UIC students, faculty, and staff can sign up for free ESRI GIS Software Courses Online because of UIC’s campus-wide site license with ESRI — one of the principal producers of geographic information systems (GIS) software.

Michael Minn’s Geospatial Visualization Tutorials – Teaching Assistant Professor Michael Minn in the Department of Geography and Geographic Information Science at UIUC has compiled an extensive list of tutorials he has created in geospatial visualization. It includes tutorials on ESRI products, Python, R, Google Earth, and various data capturing, methodology, and best practices in relation to geospatial visualization.

Requesting a Course Waiver
Students who have significant previous graduate-level training in GIS may be eligible for a course waiver of the required core GIS course (UPP 461) if they demonstrate a) mastery of course concepts and b) experience working independently on spatial analysis, visualization, and/or spatial data management projects.
